They are on the job. I had a look at other rates that people were charged and mine may have been about average. Once it gets cold enough I'll be able to fully test the draft, etc. They did a professional job, as far as I can tell, like you said, knocks on wood. As far as the work that was done for me (venting natural gas boilers/water heaters -- no fireplaces), it's been a little more than three years and I've had one inspection done since to verify everything is ok. I was over charged, they were completely unprofessional and they broke my neighbors skylight. They also ripped out my damper and convinced me that I didn't need one.I'd avoid US Chimney at all costs.
